Made in the USA by Karo's Shoes, this monumental shoe (featuring a 7.5" heel!) is made of leather and wood. Sustainable fashion at it's finest!

Serbian designer, Tea Petrovic, has created a collection of shoes some would deem rather eccentric. For this particular pair, he combined an array of materials, including leather, wood, and metal to make these works of art.

Alexander McQueen created these gravity-defying "suspended" platform shoes much to the shock of the fashion world.

Gaetano Perrone's shoe collection is unique, feminine, exquisite and magical. This sandal is a real gem (!); a beautifully sculpted piece that one would imagine would be comfortable on a woman's foot.

Victoria Spruce creates patent leather heels, with traditional leather soles. This shoe is from one particular collection she states was inspired by architecture, sculpture and structure.

Mojito Shoes are designed by British architect, Julian Hakes. Not only are they elegant and unusual, they are also comfortable and lightweight. They have a delicate and sculptural design full of twists and curves.

Safa Sahin is a Turkish designer known for his dream-like creations. His surreal inspirations are the catalyst for the genesis of an artistic masterpiece. Despite the abstract nature of his shoes, they are entirely wearable, making for a one-of-a-kind footwear investment piece. 

Yet another artistic designer, Kobi Levi from Israel, who also creates completely wearable works of art. His shoes can take the shape of toucans, dogs, cats and chewing gum, among other interesting shapes. Lady Gaga wore a pair of his designs in her music video "Born This Way".

The Myshell256 was created by designer, Sharon Golan. The shoe is comprised of 16 different components, which can be combined in all sort of permutations to create 256 different pairs of shoes. Talk about a go-to piece!

Quirky and Cool Handbags

While browsing on the web options for some new handbag ideas, I came across this collection of intriguing handbags which are a great show of creativity and innovation from the designers that dreamt these up.

Judith Leiber's multicolored crystal studded beehive clutch is just darling. Hand painted and lined in leather; I am specially smitten by the bees!

The Braccialini Tomato Bag is a very original design. A fully lined leather piece with charming details, like the leaves on the stem and the quaint leaf zipper pull.

Another Braccialini bag! They are just too cute not to catch your attention. This leather made to look like a house made of candy makes me think of the gingerbread houses we see everywhere during the holidays. It looks sweet enough to eat!

This Braccialini bag crafted to look like a flower (daisies!) is just lovely. The rhinestones accents on the golden pollen cut outs makes me think of a daisy covered in early morning dew.

This black and white drawstring Popcorn Bag by Kate Spade is very retro. It makes me want to pop an old flick into my DVD player and curl up on the couch with some real popcorn ;)

The pineapple coin purse by Kate Spade is too cute for words! Visions of a getaway to a tropical island come to mind. The large gold sequins give the bag a lavish look, but the colorful printed lining screams fun times.

Another Braccalini bag! The Train Bag is so intricately crafted I just had to included in the post. The little windows, the gold side rods and the adorable little smokestack! It looks just like a little toy engine, only you can pop your date night essentials into this choo-choo!

This vintage red phone bag is too cute; from the dial pad detailing to the phone cord and the handset handle, this piece is truly unique! It looks like the phones from when I was a kid!

This chicken purse is quirky for sure. I wouldn't have thought it was a purse had I not seen the handles. I actually looks a lot like those ceramic chickens that are sometimes sold in housewares stores as kitchen decor. Very interesting, though I am not too sure what I would pair this with ;)

Hula Hoop bag by Chanel. Talk about sustainable fashion! If you have some old hula hoops lying around, you may want to upcycle them into a large and roomy bag like this one. It's creative, to be sure, but I am not all that sold on it's functionality. Can you imagine trying to move through a crowded place with this in tow?

After taking in all these fun bags, I am rather inspired to take on a challenge: a bag a week for a month. It would be fun to create some simple and original pieces with some special detail that would take it to next level. Who knows? Maybe another candy inspired bag is in the works over here!

Ringing in the New Year in Style

One of the most important events of the year is coming up: the end of 2015 on New Years Eve, and the beginning of 2016 the following day! Saying goodbye to the previous year and welcoming the new one is exciting for most of us and usually entails some kind of grand celebration: dinner with the (whole) family, a toast at midnight, music, fireworks, going out with friends. Of course, a grand celebration usually means you'll be combing through your closet (or the racks at the mall) for the perfect New Year's outfit. Still not sure what you'll be wearing in less than a week's time? Check out your color forecast!

This color is an excellent option because it naturally embodies elegance. You will look stunning in an LBD, whether it is a more casual dress or a cocktail dress. Sport a black number for a mysterious and sensual allure.

 Gold symbolizes wealth and success; it is the hallmark of a strong and decisive individual. You can go luxe in a stunning gold gown, or you can add gold accents to your outfit. Some of my favourite colour combinations: gold and black, gold and red and gold and turquoise.

This peaceful hue is ideal for attracting positive energy. It symbolizes wealth and embodies glamour and distinction, while simultaneously looking natural and elegant.

Whichever colour or look you go for this New Year's, don't forget to enjoy the evening and forget about the little stressors in your life (at least for a little while): So long as you're happy, you'll look radiant in whatever outfit you choose!

Marsala...not just for your wine glass

Pantone has declared Marsala the color of the year and, given that it's a rich and luxurious hue, it is the perfect color to add to your wardrobe for Fall-Winter 2015-16. Fun fact: the name "marsala" comes from a dark, sweet or semisweet dessert wine which is produced in the town of Marsala, in Sicily, Italy. This reddish hue with a touch of brown will make you look amazing for any occasion, whether formal or casual, and it's been a perennial favourite during the holiday season. Don't be fooled by it's dramatic flair; marsala is a very versatile color! You can wear it on its own for a more dramatic look or combine it with shades of pink, gray, blue for a more casual everyday look; or white, gold and green for a more festive feel. You can also use marsala to compliment your look: find accessories, boots and bags in this lovely,  sophisticated color. A little secret:....marsala and its cousin burgundy are my favorite colors ;-)
